Course Duration: 17 weeks (including 4 weeks full time work placement)
Description: This course will be delivered in a classroom environment using a combination of one on one, group theory instruction and role plays including practical assessment and simulation. Students will be provided with professionally presented reference material to assist them to develop their knowledge of the units.The program is designed to be delivered over 13 weeks 2 days per week. During this time participants will be required to complete at home study including reviewing of reference materials and completing workbook assignments. Students need to complete 150 hour of work placement at the end of the course to be eligible to receive the qualification.
Assessment: Competence for this qualification is assessed using a range of assessment methods including:
Completion of workbooks containing written response activities.Completion of project work. Written Tests Questioning and Observation within the classroom and workplace Role Plays and Practical Assessment in a simulated environmentPractical assessment activities involving the demonstration of skills relating to applicable workplace tasks.Observation during work placement All assessment components will require a reasonable amount of time studying, implementing the information learned and developing records of evidence. To be awarded units of competence or the qualification, participants must satisfactorily complete all assessment activities.If you have pre-existing skills and knowledge, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is available for all units of competence upon application.
Entry Requirements: There are no official pre-requisites for the Certificate III in Aged Care
Qualification Requirements: To successfully complete this qualification, you require 14 units of competence. These 14 units are made up of 10 core units (compulsory) and 4 elective units. Elective units can be selected from a broad range of units available within the Community Services Training Package (CHC08). The units of competence shown below have been selected by the Care Training Institute based on consultation with our partners in the aged care sector.
